This class blends the energy of hip hop with the technique and style of jazz in a fun, age appropriate setting. Young dancers learn choreography while building coordination, rhythm, flexibility, musicality, confidence and performance skills. Ms. Rylie teaches, and the class meets Thursday afternoons.
Hippity Hop and/or Jazz 5/6 is preferred as preparation but is not required. Dancers should wear athletic clothes or dancewear with regular sneakers for weekly classes, and jazz shoes for the jazz portion. Jazz shoes may be worn for both parts of class if your dancer prefers. The instructor chooses the recital costume and footwear for the performance.
Classes run in two sessions across the dance year, and students who want to continue into the second session do not need to register again. A payment plan is available through the business office. Register through the Yocum Institute for Arts Education website.
