The building

One Manhattan West is a 67-story tower rising roughly 995 feet on the western edge of Midtown, developed by Brookfield Properties and designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill. Completed in 2019, it anchors the Manhattan West complex, a mixed-use development built partly over the Penn Station rail yards that also includes a second office tower, a hotel, residential buildings, a public plaza and a collection of ground-floor shops and restaurants.

EY committed to the tower in 2017 and relocated its New York operations there from 5 Times Square, where the firm had been a headline tenant since the early 2000s. The move consolidated several hundred thousand square feet of space across multiple floors and gave the firm an office designed around current patterns of professional work, including a high proportion of shared and bookable seating, client-facing meeting floors, wellness and collaboration areas, and technology-equipped rooms built for hybrid sessions with teams in other cities. The tapered glass façade and the tower's height mean that much of the space sits well above the surrounding low-rise blocks of Hudson Yards and Chelsea.

Location and getting there

The building stands on Ninth Avenue between 31st and 33rd Streets, placing it within a short walk of one of the densest transit hubs in North America. Penn Station and Moynihan Train Hall are roughly a block away, providing access to Amtrak, Long Island Rail Road and NJ Transit trains along with the 1, 2, 3, A, C and E subway lines. The 7 train's 34th Street station at Hudson Yards is a few minutes on foot, PATH service to New Jersey runs from 33rd Street, and the Port Authority Bus Terminal sits several blocks north. The surrounding neighborhood has changed substantially over the past decade. The Manhattan West plaza, the High Line's northern spur, Hudson Yards, the Javits Center and the Chelsea gallery district are all within walking distance, and the ground level of the complex offers food, coffee and casual dining options useful for meetings before or after office visits.

Practical information for visitors
