When: Township parks are open 7 a.m. to sunset; 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. with a reservation. Farmhouse and recreation building rentals run 7 a.m. to midnight.
Admission: Free. Pavilion, farmhouse and recreation building rentals require an online reservation and permit.
Parking: Parking for 20 or more vehicles at the river launch (Schuylkill River Greenways); the township site does not describe the main lot.
Dogs: Dogs are permitted in Jim Dietrich Park and along the Schuylkill River if currently licensed and vaccinated, on a leash no longer than six feet, off all athletic fields and courts, with waste picked up immediately. The fenced dog park has three paddocks on a rotating schedule (two open, one closed), a two-dog limit per person, and requires dogs to be licensed and immunized including rabies.
Know before you go: Restrooms and drinking water are seasonal and sit about half a mile northeast of the launch near the basketball courts. Groups of 20 or more, alcohol, and after-hours use need a township permit (applicant must be 25 or older). No fires outside designated stoves or fireplaces. Dog park: dogs leashed in and out, no spike, prong or pinch collars, no dogs in heat or with fleas or ticks, no unsupervised children under 12.

Jim Dietrich Park is a 110-acre Muhlenberg Township park on the Schuylkill River at 4899 Stoudts Ferry Bridge Road, north of Reading. The township bought the old farm in 1997 and has built it out since 2009 into the largest piece of its park system: three ballfields, four basketball courts, two soccer fields, three pavilions, two half-mile walking tracks, and a dog park with separate paddocks for different sized dogs. The old farmhouse and a recreation building can be rented.

We come for the river as much as the fields. There is a canoe and kayak launch near the Red Brick Pavilion, parking for 20 or more at the launch, and seasonal restrooms and drinking water about half a mile northeast of it by the basketball courts. The township has used the launch as the meeting point for its guided sunset paddles and Drift Jam kayak events (last posted for 2024), and the park has hosted River Fest and the Schuylkill River Sojourn.

Township parks are open 7 a.m. to sunset without a reservation, and until 10 p.m. with one. Dogs are allowed along the river and in the park on a leash no longer than six feet, licensed and vaccinated, and kept off the athletic fields and courts.
