Weaver's Orchard opens its farm for a Columbus Day edition of its fall festival, giving families a weekday chance to spend the holiday outdoors. The day is built around picking your own fall favorites, wandering the sunflower field with its viewing tower, hayrides, and choosing a pumpkin from the patch. Younger visitors have plenty to keep them busy, including duck races, apple bobbing, pumpkin ring toss and bowling, corn bins, a hay bale tower with tunnels, a hay bale ball pit, a small hay bale maze, and the playground.
Entertainment on this date comes from Ray Owen, whose interactive music sets are scheduled at 11 a.m., noon, 1 p.m., and 2 p.m., with Balloonables twisting balloons from noon to 2 p.m. Food trucks on hand include Big Back Burgers, Sammy's Fries, Victory BBQ, and Bop Hop Cotton Candy.
The farm's own kitchens round out the day with apple pie focaccia, apple cider lemonade, loaded chili, warm apple pie with whipped cream, and apple cider slushie floats served with cider donuts. Kim's Cafe and the market are open for apples, pumpkins, and seasonal gifts, and the goats and chickens are ready for visitors.
