Weaver's Orchard turns its farm over to fall for a day of family activities set among the orchard rows in Morgantown. You can pick your own seasonal favorites, ride out on a hayride, climb the viewing tower for a look across the sunflower field, choose something from the pumpkin patch and stop by to see the goats and chickens. Mid October is a good stretch for watching the orchard leaves turn color.
Kids have plenty to keep them busy, including duck races, apple bobbing, pumpkin ring toss, bowling and tic tac toe, corn bins, a hay bale ball pit and tower play area with tunnels, a small hay bale maze and the playground. Forgotten Friends Reptiles brings shows at 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. with a meet and greet in between, and David Wilson and Keira O'Connor play live music from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Food trucks on hand include Sammy's Fries, Farmhouse Stickys, Bop Hop Cotton Candy, Pappy's BBQ and Comalli Tacos. The farm's own kitchens add apple pie focaccia, apple cider lemonade, loaded chili and warm apple pie with whipped cream, plus apple cider slushie floats with cider donuts at the ice cream shed. Kim's Cafe and the market are open for apples, pumpkins and fall gifts.
