GoggleWorks turns its courtyard over to the Reading Roots Night Market for a Halloween edition, with artisan vendors, handmade goods, and local makers set up across the campus as the evening comes on. Food comes from Thorn Alley Kitchen, so you can shop, eat, and catch up with neighbors in one stop. Halloween themed festivities run through the night, including a costume contest, so it is worth putting the wig and face paint on before you head downtown.
Live music fills the 7 to 8 PM hour with Soul Papi and the SWAMPRAT Cypher Series. Soul Papi, born John Zabala in Reading, is a rapper, poet, and producer whose Afro-Dominican roots show up in a sound that pulls from bachata, jazz, Quiet Storm, and East Coast hip hop. SWAMPRAT brings genre-bending sounds, live beatmaking, and cypher energy, with an experimental edge that suits the series.
The market is built around celebrating community, art, and local talent while supporting food access downtown, and the vendor and performer mix changes each time. Costumes welcome, appetites encouraged.
