About the event
Penn Avenue's 500 block fills with growers and food makers every Sunday morning, and the West Reading Farmers' Market is a reliable stop for anyone building a week of meals around what Berks County farms are harvesting right now. October brings the fullest tables of the year, with autumn vegetables and fruit alongside sustainably raised meats, pastured eggs, cheeses, and raw honey.
Beyond the produce stands you will find organic breads, artisan pastries and sweets, fresh ravioli, olive oil, roasted coffee and tea, cut flowers, herbal tinctures and body care, plus Pennsylvania cider, wine, and distilled spirits. Vendors are encouraged to build their products from local ingredients, so conversations with the people behind the table tend to go somewhere interesting.
The market runs year round and welcomes shoppers of every age, whether you are filling a canvas bag for the week or walking down with coffee to see what looks good. Select vendors accept pre orders through the market website for pickup on site.
