Sight Loss Support Groups in English and Spanish From the Vision Resource Center
The Vision Resource Center of Berks County runs two monthly support groups for people who are blind or have vision loss, one general group and one for people who feel more comfortable within the Spanish speaking community.
The Sight Loss Support Group provides support and problem-solving for clients, and the meeting is designed to discuss the latest technology and medical breakthroughs that may be of interest to the attendees. It is open to individuals who are blind or are visually impaired and their family members, friends, and caregivers.
The Spanish Speaking Sight Loss group provides support for those within Berks County who are blind or have vision loss that feel more comfortable within the Spanish speaking community. The group meets to discuss problems and possible solutions for difficulties they are having dealing with everyday life with their visual impairment.
Both groups meet monthly. The meeting days, times and locations are not listed, so ask when you contact the center.
The center describes its support services as free.

Someone who is new to the center's services goes through a two-step process: schedule an intake appointment, and sign a release form for a copy of the most recent vision report. If you or your loved one qualifies, referrals and services can be put in place.
The center has served people with vision impairment and blindness for over 96 years, with assistance for daily activities, safe travel and support groups. It also offers social and recreational activities, vision screenings and a low vision store.
