Work in Progress Job Program for Justice-Involved People With Mental Health Needs
Work in Progress, called WIP, is a reentry workforce development program at Connections Work for people with current or past justice system involvement who have a mental health or dual diagnosis.
Participation begins with a comprehensive assessment to determine which services fit. Participants receive one-on-one and group instruction for job preparedness and essential skills training, financial literacy, and a workforce-focused cognitive behavioral intervention curriculum. You and the WIP case manager develop a comprehensive employment plan that sets goals, objectives, and tasks. The case manager and an Employment Development Specialist then work with you to identify prospective employment opportunities. Case management and retention support continue for at least one year, so someone stays with you after you start working.
