Connect to Success Reentry Program for Young Adults in Berks County
PA CareerLink Berks County runs the Young Adult Re-Entry Program, called Connect to Success, which helps young adults who have been involved in the justice system work toward a high school equivalency diploma, employment, or both.
It is for participants aged 18 to 24 who have been involved in the justice system. The young adult programs at PA CareerLink Berks County serve Berks County residents, and specific eligibility requirements apply for each program.
The program is provided free of charge to eligible young adults who want to pursue employment or post-secondary education once they obtain their high school equivalency diploma. All expenses, including testing fees, materials, eligible training fees and supplies, are covered by the program. Connect to Success also offers program-related transportation and financial assistance, and participants can earn a stipend each week for class attendance. Classes are held in English during daytime hours.
These are the next steps:
- Attend the Welcome Orientation, which is held in person. Check the events calendar at careerlinkberks.com for up-to-date days and times. A virtual Welcome Orientation is also offered; to get the link, email info@careerlinkberks.com and ask to receive the Welcome Orientation presentation. After you view the presentation, a staff member will be in contact to determine your next steps.
- Attend the two-week Young Adult Program Orientation, typically held the first two weeks of each month, Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 12 PM. Attendance each day is required.
- For High School Equivalency or GED, if you successfully complete the two-week orientation and meet the minimum score requirements needed to enter class, you will be placed into class the following week.
- For Career Services, if you successfully complete the two-week orientation with good attendance and performance, you will be invited to join the program. Attendance each day is required.
