Take the GED Test at the Literacy Council of Reading-Berks

The Literacy Council of Reading-Berks is an official GED testing center, where you can take the computerized GED test through Pearson Vue and earn a high school equivalency diploma. The test covers four content areas: Reasoning Through Language Arts, Mathematical Reasoning, Social Studies, and Science.

Pennsylvania residents can test here. That means adults 18 years and older, as well as 16- and 17-year-old participants who meet specific qualifications. The page does not list what those qualifications for 16- and 17-year-olds are, so ask.

Everyone who successfully meets the scoring requirements set by the state of Pennsylvania receives a Commonwealth Secondary School Diploma from the Pennsylvania Department of Education. By law, business, industry, colleges, and most branches of the armed services accept this diploma as a legitimate high school diploma.

To sign up: - Register on the official GED site. - Choose your testing time and the LCRB location. - Make your payment. Payment is due at the time of registration.

The page does not say how much the test costs, so ask when you register. If you want help getting ready first, the Literacy Council also offers free GED preparation classes to adults in the Berks community.

Once you have passed, all Pennsylvania high school equivalency diplomas and transcripts from the GED test are handled by DiplomaSender. You can request a transcript and diploma through DiplomaSender.com. First time requests are free of charge, and additional requests are $20.00 per document, including transcripts, duplicate diplomas, and letters of verification.
