Community Health Worker Training From the Literacy Council of Reading-Berks
The Literacy Council of Reading-Berks runs a Community Health Worker Training Program in partnership with the Eastcentral Area Health Education Center. The training prepares participants to work in the health field, or better equips professionals in their current roles to connect patients with needed resources in the community. Participants have been hired in hospitals, clinics, and other community-based organizations.
The training covers skills for employment as a Community Health Worker, including: - Boundaries - Networking - Mandated Reporting - Health Literacy - Self Care and Stress - Safety
You also receive special training in COMPASS, CPR and First Aid, Youth Mental Health First Aid, Motivational Interviewing, and Tobacco Cessation.
