Free GED and HiSET Classes From the Literacy Council of Reading-Berks
The Literacy Council of Reading-Berks runs free classes that prepare you to take Pennsylvania high school equivalency tests such as the GED and HiSET.
To join, you must be 17 years or older, a resident of Pennsylvania, plan to remain in the United States permanently (no tourist or F1 visa), and not currently be enrolled in a public, private secondary, or post secondary school.
The class reviews language arts, social studies, science, math, and study skills so you can study for the high school equivalency certification exam. It meets on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. The class is free.
Getting in takes three steps, in this order: - Register for the in-person information session. You must complete the registration form before attending an information session. - Attend the in-person information session, where staff answer your questions and guide you through the steps. - Sign up for class.

The Literacy Council is also an official Pearson Vue GED Testing Center, so you can schedule and take the test there; scheduling is done through Pearson Vue GED.
