Computer and Digital Skills Classes for Adults From Tec Centro Berks
Tec Centro Berks teaches adults in Reading how to use computers, email, the internet, and workplace software through its Digital Literacy program.
The classes are built for beginners and for adults who want to feel more confident using technology for daily life, school, and work. The program may be a good fit if you are new to computers, need help with email, the internet, or online forms, want to improve Microsoft Office skills, need technology skills for work or school, want to prepare for workforce training, or want to understand online safety and cybersecurity.
Instruction is hands-on and runs in three levels. Level 1 covers computer basics, internet basics, email basics, operating system basics, Windows 10 and Windows 11, and MacOS basics. Level 2 covers Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, Google Docs, file management, and workplace software habits. Level 3 covers information literacy, your digital footprint, cybersecurity basics, artificial intelligence basics, responsible technology use, and career and workplace readiness.
Students also use Northstar Digital Literacy to see what they already know, find what they need to improve, and track progress, and IBM SkillsBuild for online learning in technology, workplace skills, professional development, and career-connected training. Students who complete the program receive a certificate of completion from Tec Centro Berks, and they complete digital skills assessments or learning modules through Northstar and IBM SkillsBuild.
To start, call Tec Centro Berks at (484) 513-3348. You will meet with a case worker, who determines the right class level and helps you understand the full enrollment process. Before class begins you need to complete basic enrollment steps and have:
- Valid Picture ID
- Completed enrollment paperwork
- Placement or skill review, if needed

Tec Centro Berks is planning an IT Support Specialist training pathway in 2027 to help students prepare for entry-level technology support roles and the foundational knowledge for the CompTIA Tech+ certification.
