Hands-On Trades Job Training for Adults From Tec Centro Berks
Tec Centro Berks trains adults in Reading for entry-level jobs in the trades, with programs in plumbing, facilities maintenance, forklift operation, commercial driving, industrial control technician work, and heating, ventilation and air conditioning. Training runs about 24 weeks, Monday through Friday, with classes from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. It includes hands-on lab practice, written and practical skill evaluations, Digital Literacy training, worksite visits when available, and support connecting to employment opportunities. Trainings include industry-recognized credentials such as NCCER, OSHA and Tec Centro-specific certifications, depending on the program track. Students in the Industrial Control Technician program work toward SACA, NCCER and OSHA certifications. In the forklift program, students receive Tec Centro or industry-aligned documentation of completed training, depending on the final program structure. For the commercial driving program, specific license requirements, testing steps and eligibility details are reviewed during enrollment.
