Filing for a Protection From Abuse Order in Berks County

The Protection From Abuse Office of the Berks County courts is where you file for a PFA, a civil order of the court available to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking. The order prohibits the offender from abusing, stalking, harassing, threatening or attempting to cause bodily injury to the victim.

The PFA Office is on the 1st Floor of the Services Center. Mail is accepted only at the 4th Floor, 633 Court Street, Reading, PA 19601. The phone number is 610-478-6208 ext. 5701 or ext. 5702.

Filing hours are 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and the PFA Office itself is open 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. County buildings are open 8 AM to 5 PM and are closed on holidays.

After PFA filing hours, PFA staff can assist you with applying for an Emergency PFA from your local Magisterial District Judge, or you can go to Reading Central Court on the 1st floor of the Courthouse after 7:00 p.m. on weekdays and on weekends or holidays.
