Veterinary Assistant

Humane Veterinary Hospitals is hiring a Veterinary Assistant whose role spans animal care and treatment, customer service, and hospital cleanliness, assisting technicians and doctors to maintain high standards of patient and client care.

Animal Care Duties Include

• animal restraint
• assisting with x-rays
• maintaining safety protocols when handling animals
• upholding a high standard of patient care
• and assisting technicians and doctors as asked.

Cleanliness Duties Include

• vacuuming
• mopping
• changing garbage
• dusting
• cleaning and stocking exam rooms after appointments
• following daily/weekly/monthly task lists
• cleaning and sterilizing surgical equipment
• wrapping surgical packs and running the autoclave
• cleaning surgery tables and trays
• cleaning and maintaining sinks and bathrooms
• laundry
• kennel/cage cleaning
• maintaining proper cleaning solution dilutions and supply stock
• cleaning windows and doors
• replenishing supplies such as paper towels and garbage bags
• cleaning the kitchen/break area
• knowing patient isolation protocols
• and general upkeep of the hospital's sights, smells, and sounds.

In emergencies, the assistant may act as the 'fetch' person, quickly retrieving supplies as directed, requiring strong knowledge of supply locations and a calm, quick response, especially around clients.

Physical Requirements

• ability to lift objects or pets of at least 30 lbs
• control large, anxious, or angry pets
• and stand/walk, bend, and stoop up to 10 hours per day with adequa
