A Push in the Right Direction: Researching Hidden Forces, Posture, and the Biomechanics of Stroller Running
Starts Tue, Oct 27, 7:00 PM

About the class
Alvernia University faculty bring a Seniors College presentation to The Highlands at Wyomissing, using stroller running as a way to look at how the human body moves. The talk covers the forces acting on the body during running, how posture and gait can shift, and why small changes in movement may affect comfort, performance and injury risk.
The session draws on a collaborative case study carried out in Alvernia's Biomechanics and Gait Evaluation Laboratory (BaGEL). You get a behind the scenes look at how researchers capture human movement and turn that data into insights used for clinical assessment and injury prevention. The presenter is Joseph Mahoney, Ph.D., Chair of the John R. Post School of Engineering and Professor of Engineering.
This one hour talk is part of Alvernia's Seniors College and meets on a Tuesday evening at 2000 Cambridge Avenue in Wyomissing. Register through the online form linked on this listing, or contact Allison Kalbach at allison.kalbach@alvernia.edu with questions. No background in engineering or science is needed.
