American Scriptures Series: The Bill of Rights
Starts Tue, Oct 13, 10:30 AM

About the class
This Alvernia Seniors College course looks closely at the first ten amendments to the United States Constitution, known together as the Bill of Rights. They were adopted in hopes of preventing abuse of constitutional powers and building public confidence in the government and the beneficent ends of its institution.
Through a close reading of the texts, the group considers what these rights tell us about our country and about ourselves, and whether our beliefs about these documents match what the texts and the history actually say. The presenter is Rabbi Brian I Michelson. Sessions meet Tuesday mornings at the McGlinn Conference Center on Saint Bernardine Street in Reading.
The course is part of Alvernia's Seniors College program for older adults. You can sign up using the online registration form linked with this listing.
