Drawing Class

About the class
This class at Clay on Main in Oley is a good fit for beginner and intermediate artists who want to improve their drawing from observation. You will learn techniques like stippling, cross-hatching and blending, along with pointers on reading proportions, shapes and angles for more accurate work.
The instructor brings basic skill-building projects, including still life drawing from live set ups and drawing from photographs. Bring your own ideas about subjects you want to draw. If you bring a drawing you are working on, you will get a constructive critique with tips on strengthening the composition and analyzing values and colors to bring the piece to a professional finish.
Bring some basic drawing supplies: a sketchbook in 60lb or heavier paper, not too small, with 9x12 or 11x14 a good size; a #2 pencil and a soft eraser at minimum, though an assortment of hard (H) and soft (B) pencils is better. A kneaded eraser or a soft white vinyl eraser will not damage the paper. Favorite supplies such as charcoal, pastels or ink are welcome, and various drawing media will be on hand to try. Sign up through the Clay on Main website.
