The Delaware Museum of Nature & Science is a natural history museum on Kennett Pike in Wilmington, DE, with galleries on Delaware's ecosystems, life around the world and the Cretaceous Mid-Atlantic.
The PaleoZone answers who lived in the Mid-Atlantic during the Cretaceous Period, the Regional Journey gallery walks Delaware's own ecosystems, the Discovery Gallery is hands-on science, and the Nature Nook is set aside for the youngest visitors. Adult admission is $15.50, parking is free, and you can bring your own food to the cafe tables, the patio or the picnic area.
Before you go
Buy online before 9 a.m. or just walk in; paying cash saves 5%. Parking is free. Outside food is welcome in the cafe, on the patio or at the picnic area. Visitors under 16 need an adult with them. A respite room in the Regional Journey gallery gives a quiet break; wheelchairs at the front desk.
Coming up
Museum of the Macabre, a 21-and-over evening of specimens, experiments and a cash bar, is October 24, 6 to 9 p.m., $30 (members $15). Roaring Into the New Year is December 31, 9:30 a.m. to noon.
