The Kreider Farms Farm Tour is a 90-minute guided bus tour of a working dairy farm on Route 72 in Manheim, PA, offered Monday through Saturday from May through October.

The bus drives down the middle of the Cow Palace barn and stops at the maternity barn, the milking carousel where the farm milks 1,800 cows three times a day (the farm's figure), a free milk sample, and a 100-foot silo observation tower with an optional climb. The homestead dates to 1736 and the family has farmed under the Kreider name for 90 years, so the guide is explaining a working operation rather than a display.

Before you go

Reserve and prepay online; call (717) 665-5039 if booking less than 24 hours ahead. Meet at the Welcome Center 15 minutes early and sign the waiver. The bus has three large steps and cannot carry wheelchairs. Children need 42 inches to climb the silo. Bring a camera; the tour runs in most weather.
