Plan the day
Valley Forge National Historical Park is the site of the Continental Army's 1777 to 1778 winter encampment in King of Prussia, PA, with 3,500 acres of grounds, monuments and trails.
The grounds are free and open every day from 7 a.m. until dark, so a visit can be a short walk or a full afternoon. You can see the reconstructed soldier huts, Washington's Headquarters, the National Memorial Arch and the Anthony Wayne statue, and walk the Joseph Plumb Martin trail across 3,500 acres. Leashed dogs are welcome on the grounds.
Before you go
Leashed pets are welcome on the grounds but not inside buildings. Park programs and tours need no reservation. Washington's Headquarters and the Train Station may close in snow or ice; call 610-783-1099 first. Varnum's Picnic Area lot is weekends only in November and closed December to March.
Coming up
The park's '78 Mile Challenge runs April through October 2026, and the park lists fall campfire programs for the season.
Checked October 8, 2026 on the official site. Hours, prices and seasons change, so confirm there before a long drive.
