About the event
The WK&S Railroad runs the Apple-Pickin' Train out of its Kempton station this afternoon, rolling through the farm country and wooded hillsides of northern Berks County while the autumn color is on full display. Departures are set for 1, 2, 3 and 4 p.m., and the views along the way are worth bringing a camera for.
What sets this ride apart is the orchard stop at County Line. Passengers can step off the train, pick their own apples, then climb back aboard for the return trip to Kempton. The combination of a short scenic ride and a hands-on stop in the orchard makes it a comfortable outing for families with young children and an easy one for anyone who just wants to watch the countryside go by.
Reservations are not required for this trip. Trains leave promptly at their scheduled times, so arriving with a little room to spare is a good idea, and since there are no restrooms on board, plan ahead before you board.
Hosted by WK&S Railroad on BerksConnect.
