About the event
The Apple Dumpling Festival is a long running spring gathering in Sinking Spring, built around a midway of modern amusement rides, games, food stands, and booths from crafters and local businesses. Thousands of homemade apple dumplings are turned out for the occasion, and they are the reason a lot of Berks County families keep the weekend open. The feel is close to an old fashioned county fair, where neighbors run into each other and stay a while.
Music and entertainment run through the festival, and a pageant is held nightly, with girls competing for the Little Miss, Junior Miss, and Teen Miss Apple Dumpling titles. The Berks, Blues, Brews, and BBQ Festival takes place as part of the event, bringing blues bands, local microbrews, and barbecued ribs, pork, chicken, and brisket with the fixings.
The layout suits mixed groups, so adults can settle in near the stage and the smokers while kids head for the rides. The grounds at 94 Park Avenue also accommodate group outings, birthday parties, and company picnics. Specific May dates are being finalized, so check back for the confirmed schedule.
