Bring a blanket or a lawn chair and settle in among the trees for an evening screening of "The Book of Life" in the arboretum. The animated feature follows Manolo, a young man caught between what his family expects of him and what his heart is telling him, on a journey through three fantastical worlds where he comes face to face with his deepest fears. With its Day of the Dead inspired imagery and bright, storybook design, it makes a fitting choice as October begins.

The setting is a big part of the appeal here. As the sun goes down and the arboretum quiets, the film starts under open sky, with room to spread out and enjoy the night air. Arriving early is a good idea if you want your pick of spots. Should the weather turn, the screening moves indoors to the Museum's Auditorium.

Concessions will be available on site, and donations help the Museum keep community programs like this one going. It is a relaxed, low key way to spend a fall evening with neighbors, whether you are coming with kids or on your own.
