Chesapeake Baysox @ Reading Fightin Phils
May 14, 2027 · 1950 Centre Ave

About the event
Reading's Double-A club welcomes the Chesapeake Baysox to FirstEnergy Stadium for an Eastern League matchup. The Fightin Phils are the Philadelphia Phillies affiliate, so the home lineup is stocked with prospects working their way toward Citizens Bank Park, while the visitors come from the Baltimore Orioles system. The Baysox still play out of Bowie's Prince George's Stadium and took on the Chesapeake name to reflect their wider regional fan base.
Part of the appeal is the ballpark itself. Opened in 1951 as Reading Municipal Memorial Stadium and dedicated to military personnel who died in service, the park calls itself America's Classic Ballpark and blends baseball, museum, and carnival into one evening out. The setting is a colorful one, tucked into a leafy Berks County backdrop. Between innings, the Crazy Hot Dog Vendor holds court, an ultra-enthusiastic presence who rides his ostrich, Rodrigo, onto the field to fling franks into the stands.
It makes for an easy night for families, groups, and anyone who just wants a seat outdoors and a hot dog. Giveaways and the Fightin Phils mascot team keep things moving all season long, and the crowd in Reading tends to know its baseball.
