About the event
Halloween morning comes to the West Reading Playground with a chip timed 5K, a 1.5 mile walk, and a free Kids Trick or Treat Dash for the youngest runners, who collect Halloween goodie bags at the finish. The 5K is open to individuals and to teams, and there is a virtual option for anyone who wants to log the distance on their own. Timing is handled by Pretzel City Sports.
Costumes are part of the fun here, with contests and prizes for both adults and children. Around the course you will find a health services fair staffed by local practitioners and medical professionals, plus food trucks from area restaurants and merchants. Free child care for kids ages 2 and up is provided by Drexel University students, so parents can run or walk without juggling logistics.
The event is organized by Lauren's Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, with proceeds supporting local families through a variety of charitable funds. It is a good fit for competitive runners, first time walkers, and families looking for a morning outdoors in the neighborhood.
