Maple Grove Raceway opens its quarter mile strip to street cars for a Friday Night Test N Tune, and you can join in however you like. Drivers stage up and make passes down the same surface that hosts the track's biggest drag racing weekends, while spectators get a close look at the staging lanes and the starting line.
This is a welcoming place to start if you have never raced. Bring your questions about how a pass works, what the tree is doing, and what happens between the burnout box and the finish line. Anyone planning to run should come prepared, since even the slowest cars need seat belts, long pants and closed toed shoes.
The track sits on Stauffer Park Lane just outside Mohnton and has been a Berks County motorsports landmark since the 1960s. It is centered on a quarter mile straight, with a season that ranges from nostalgia racing and Top Fuel dragsters to street bike and street legal events, so a Friday night here is a good introduction to the sport for families and first time visitors.
