The Greater Reading Area Dance Exchange Festival brings Berks County dancers to the stage at Alvernia University's Francis Hall Theatre. The festival is organized by JCWK Dance Lab, the contemporary dance company led by Berks County native Jessica Warchal-King, whose work centers on joy, connection, and wellness through movement and story sharing.
GRADE gathers adult-focused performance groups and independent artists from across the Greater Reading area onto a single program. Past editions have ranged from ballet and contemporary work to flamenco, Irish dance, Latin social dance, aerial dance, and step, with performers of widely varied ages sharing the same bill. This year the festival also joins the countywide celebration of Berks County's anniversary year.
Francis Hall Theatre is ADA accessible and Alvernia University has parking on site. The evening suits audiences who follow local dance closely as well as anyone meeting these groups for the first time.
