The Wanamaker, Kempton & Southern Railroad rolls out of its Kempton station after dark for an autumn moonlight ride. One of the line's diesel locomotives handles the 45 minute trip, which includes a stop along the way so passengers can step into the quiet and gaze at the full moon over the Berks countryside.
When the train returns to the station, the evening continues with musical entertainment and complimentary cider, coffee or hot chocolate along with donuts. It makes for a relaxed close to the night, and an easy outing for families, couples and anyone who likes trains.
A few practical notes: reservations are required, the train departs promptly at its scheduled time, and there are no restrooms aboard, so plan accordingly before boarding. The station sits at 42 Community Center Drive in Kempton.
