About the event
Homeschool families are invited to spend a morning looking at how Pennsylvania makes things. Educators from The Museum lead special tours paired with hands-on projects, giving kids a chance to see how ideas, tools, and skilled work come together to turn raw materials into the objects we use every day.
The program is designed for elementary school age students, and younger and older siblings are welcome to take part, so mixed age groups can move through the morning together. Museum admission for the day is included with the program, leaving time to keep exploring the galleries once the session wraps up.
The date also falls during the run of How People Make Things, an exhibit that connects familiar childhood objects to a manufacturing process combining people, ideas, and technology, created by the Children's Museum of Pittsburgh with the producer of Mister Rogers' Neighborhood and the University of Pittsburgh Center for Learning in Out-of-School Environments. Reservations are required, with a deadline the Monday before the program.
