Jill Haley Quietude: Music for Shenandoah National Park
November 14, 2026 · 3:00 PM · Miller Center for the Arts, 4 N 2nd Street, Reading

About the event
Composer and oboist Jill Haley writes music in America's national parks, often staying for weeks at a time as an Artist in Residence and shooting video of the places that shape each piece. She has shared this work, paired with images of the landscapes behind it, at music festivals, universities, national parks and Carnegie Hall. Her Shenandoah collection, Quietude, comes to the Miller Center stage in Reading.
The afternoon opens with a solo set by guitarist David Cullen, followed by the music of Quietude performed by pianist Sue McDevitt, Cullen on guitar, and Haley on oboe and English horn, with video of the park scenes that inspired the compositions. The result is chamber music built for unhurried listening, a good fit for anyone who loves the Blue Ridge or simply wants a quiet hour with beautiful playing.
Free parking for Miller Center events is available in the RACC flat student lots, first come, first served. Student Lot A on Front Street, beside the Yocum Library at 30 South Front Street, is the closest flat lot to the venue.
