Play Me A Story: The Emperor’s New Clothes
September 19, 2026 · 10:00 AM · Yocum Institute for Arts Education, 3000 Penn Avenue, West Lawn · Recommended for ages 3 to 6

About the event
Young audiences take the lead in this interactive retelling of a familiar fairy tale at the Yocum Institute for Arts Education in West Lawn. Children help dress an emperor in a truly one of a kind outfit, even though nobody can quite see it, and they are invited into the story as it unfolds.
The performance blends storytelling, movement, and hands on participation, giving kids room to use their imaginations and to think about what is pretend and what is true. Along the way, the story encourages speaking up with confidence and shows little ones that their voices carry weight.
After the show, families are welcome to stay for a craft activity inspired by the tale, which makes for a relaxed way to stretch the morning a little longer and let kids take something home with them.
