Sensory Hours at The Museum
October 16, 2026 · 5:00 PM · The Reading Public Museum, 500 Museum Road · Open to guests of all ages and abilities; registration suggested
Also on Mon, Sep 28 and Sun, Oct 11.

About the event
The Reading Public Museum sets aside quiet time for visitors who take in the galleries best at a gentler pace. During sensory hours, guests and their caretakers can move through the collections in a calmer atmosphere, with fewer crowds and a softer sensory environment throughout the building.
The program is built around the idea that the Museum should be a place of learning and enjoyment for people of all ages and abilities. Families who register in advance receive a pre-visit packet they can share ahead of time, so a visitor knows what to expect before walking through the door.
It is a good fit for anyone who has wanted to explore the art, science, and natural history galleries but prefers a quieter setting to do it in. Registration is suggested, and the education department can also arrange private sensory hours for smaller groups with advance notice.
Hosted by Reading Public Museum on BerksConnect.
