The Temple Halloween Parade brings the season's first wave of costumes and lights to Kutztown Road. The procession steps off from the Muhlenberg Elementary Center on Sharp Avenue, heads north up Kutztown Road, and turns onto Mount Laurel Avenue, so there is plenty of curb space along the route for families to settle in and watch.
The lineup draws a wide mix of the community, with marching bands, car clubs, fire companies, business floats, youth organizations, and costumed groups large and small. Judges will be watching along the way and handing out recognition in several categories, from the most festive float to the entry that earns the biggest gasp, with prizes that include gift cards from local businesses and cash awards.
Groups interested in entering can find an application through the parade's Facebook page. For everyone else, it is an evening of neighborhood spirit and friendly frights to open the Halloween season in Berks County.
