The YMCA Early Learning Center at Richmond turns its parking lot into a friendly Halloween stop on Friday evening, with decorated trunks lining the lot and volunteers handing out candy to costumed visitors. Kids can make their way from trunk to trunk, show off what they are wearing, and fill a bag with treats without ever leaving a well lit, supervised space.
This is one of several Trunk or Treat nights hosted by the YMCA of Reading and Berks County, and activities can differ a little from location to location. The Richmond Township site sits along Kutztown Road just outside Fleetwood, which makes it an easy stop for families in the Fleetwood, Kutztown, and Richmond areas looking for a low key way to celebrate the season together.
Costumes are encouraged for the whole family, and there is no cost to attend. The Y also welcomes community members who want to decorate a trunk of their own or donate individually wrapped candy at any branch to help keep the treats coming.
