The West Reading Borough Recreation Commission brings its haunted season back to the playground and pavilion, where the grounds take on a spooky character once the sun goes down. Visitors can walk through the haunted house, climb aboard the hayride, or do both, with carnival style games set up alongside for anyone who wants a lighter break between scares.
This is the first of two nights, organized by the borough with sponsorship from Discovery Federal. It draws a mix of families with younger kids, groups of teens, and neighbors who make the walk over from nearby streets, so expect a friendly community atmosphere rather than an extreme haunt.
The haunted house, hayride, and games are each priced separately, so you can put together whatever combination suits your group. Dress for an October evening outdoors, since much of the fun happens in the open air around the pavilion.
