About the event
The Wanamaker, Kempton & Southern Railroad turns an autumn afternoon into a short rail trip with a pumpkin at the end of it. Riders board at the Kempton station and travel out to the WK&S Great Pumpkin Patch, where everyone aboard, kids and grown-ups alike, picks a pumpkin to bring home.
Back at the station, decorating kits are set out so you can dress up your pumpkin before you leave, and a few friendly witches are on hand with treats. Trains depart at 1, 2, 3 and 4 p.m., so there is room to pick the departure that fits your day.
Reservations are suggested. Trains leave promptly on schedule, and there are no restrooms aboard, so plan a stop at the station beforehand. Bring a camera; the ride through the Kempton countryside in mid October is worth a picture or two.
