About the event
The Wanamaker, Kempton & Southern Railroad turns a short ride through the Berks countryside into a pumpkin hunt. Board at the Kempton station, roll out along the rails, and step off at the WK&S Great Pumpkin Patch to pick out a pumpkin of your own. Grown-ups are welcome to choose one too, since the patch treats everybody as a kid for the afternoon.
Back at the station, decorating kits are set out so riders can dress up their pumpkins with faces, hats, and whatever else strikes them. A few friendly witches are on hand with a treat for riders before they head home.
Trains leave Kempton at 1, 2, 3, and 4 p.m., and departures run promptly on schedule, so plan to arrive with time to visit the ticket office first. Reservations are suggested. Bring a camera, and note that restrooms are at the station rather than aboard the train.
