Comprehensive Career Services From PA CareerLink Berks County
PA CareerLink Berks County pairs job seekers with a staff member who helps them build an employment plan and work toward their next job, through Comprehensive Career Services.
To take part, you first attend the office's Welcome Orientation, which is held in person. Attending it is a must, because that is where you hear about the variety of services offered in the office and through partner agencies in the community. Check the events calendar for up to date days and times. After orientation, you may choose to participate in Comprehensive Career Services.
In Comprehensive Career Services you work more in depth with a staff member to develop your employment plan and outline your path to your next job. The parts of it are Success Starts Here, which covers skills for the workplace, Job Search and Job Club, Employment Specialist services, the ACT National Career Readiness Certificate, an Individual Training Account to attend approved training when funds are available, and On-the-Job Training with employers so you earn while you learn, also when funds are available. Because the training account and On-the-Job Training depend on funding, ask staff what is available when you go.
The office is at 1920 Kutztown Road, Suite F, Reading, PA 19604. The job seekers phone is (610) 988-1300, and the email is info@careerlinkberks.com. For relay services, dial 711. Public office hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8:30am to 4:30pm, and Wednesday from 10:00am to 4:30pm. The Resource Room, a self-service center open to the public with internet-accessible computers and job search and career related materials, is open Monday through Friday from 10:00am to 3:00pm.
The office serves businesses and individuals in Berks County and surrounding communities. Many of its services are federally funded, so most are provided at no cost, but eligibility requirements apply for some programs. The page does not say what Comprehensive Career Services costs, so ask when you call.
Auxiliary aids and services are available upon request to individuals with disabilities, and language assistance services are available free of cost. For emergency closings, check WFMZ StormCenter closings at wfmz.com/weather/stormcenter.
Beyond attending Welcome Orientation first, the page does not list other eligibility rules for this service.
