SMART School-Based Mentoring From Big Brothers Big Sisters of Berks County
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Berks County runs SMART, Students & Mentors Achieving Results Together, a mentoring program that takes place entirely inside certain Berks County schools. A mentor meets with a child at the child's school for at least one hour per week in a carefully supervised setting. The mentors are college students, business professionals and high school students.
SMART is offered only at specific elementary and middle schools: - Conrad Weiser East Elementary, Conrad Weiser West Elementary and Conrad Weiser Middle School (Conrad Weiser SD) - Hamburg Middle School (Hamburg SD) - Oley Valley Elementary School (Oley Valley SD) - Andrew Maier Elementary School (Fleetwood SD) - Glenside Elementary School (Reading SD)
If your child does not attend one of these schools, this program is not available to them. The agency also runs other mentoring programs, including one-to-one matches and group programs for unmatched children and for teens.
