Free School Breakfast and Lunch for All Governor Mifflin Students

Governor Mifflin School District gives every student a free breakfast and a free lunch each school day for the 2026-2027 school year, and no application is needed.

This applies to all students in the district. The meals are free under the Community Eligibility Provision, a federal rule that lets a district serve free meals to every child without asking families to fill out a meal application. Families do not have to sign up or prove income.

Money in a student's meal account is only needed for a la carte purchases, meaning extra snacks and items bought outside the regular breakfast and lunch. Any balance from last year carries over to this year. Starting with the 2026-2027 school year the district uses SchoolCafe for a la carte lunch purchases, and information about SchoolCafe and a link to pay will be available before the school year begins. Parents can watch meal and snack purchases and see account balances in Skyward under the "Food Services" tab, which is updated continuously. Money left at the end of the year rolls over to the next grade or school building, and accounts follow a child until graduation. After graduation, any balance over $5.00 is transferred to a sibling in the district or refunded by check to the parent or guardian.

If your child has food allergies or other special dietary needs, substitutions can be made, but only with a signed statement from a recognized medical authority. You also need to complete and submit the Food Allergy Accommodation Form, which can be downloaded from the Food Services page.

Weekly menus are posted for each building: elementary, Pre-K, the intermediate school, the middle school and the high school.

Laura Kline is the Director of Food Services. The district office is at 10 South Waverly Street, Shillington PA 19607, and the phone number is 610-775-1461. The page does not give meal serving times or separate Food Services office hours, so call to ask.
