Free Help Applying for Health Insurance From Berks Community Health Center

Berks Community Health Center has insurance assisters who give free help with the state based health insurance marketplace, pennie.com, so you can get through the government websites and buy affordable health insurance without doing it alone.

Help with the marketplace is available during the open enrollment period, November 1 through January 15. Outside that window, the assisters can help you at any time of the year if you have had a life change that means you need to get your own health insurance, such as losing a job or insurance, getting married, moving or reaching age 26.

The assisters can also help with medical assistance and CHIP applications through COMPASS, the state benefits website. They may also be able to help if you think you may qualify for Medicare Savings Programs.

To make an appointment with one of the insurance assisters, call the Outreach Department at 610-988-4838 ext. 1211. For general questions about the health center, the main number is 610-988-4838.

The page gives few other details. It does not say where the appointments take place, what to bring, whether you need to be a patient of the health center first, or how long the appointment takes, so ask when you call.
