This one day workshop at GoggleWorks Center for the Arts looks at building sculpture from salvaged metal. The group starts with a trip to a local scrap yard, where you learn how to spot metals that can be welded and pick pieces for your project. After a lunch break, you return to work with a MIG welder and hand tools to put your found object sculpture together. Brian Glaze leads the session, which is open to all skill levels.

Welding Basics or equivalent experience is required before you take this workshop. Flame resistant clothing, long pants and heavy closed toe shoes are required. Gloves and boots or sturdy work shoes are strongly advised, since part of the day is spent walking in an industrial setting. The class meets in the Welding Studio, Building 4, on the GoggleWorks campus at 201 Washington St in Reading.

The session runs Saturday, 9 AM to 3 PM. Sign up through the GoggleWorks class page at https://goggleworks.org/classes/welding-with-found-objects-session-a-4/, where you can also join the waitlist if the workshop is full.
