Best Dentists in Berks County, PA
Fifteen Berks County dental practices grouped by what they do and where they are, from Wyomissing family offices to the county's root canal specialists, each verified open as of October 2026 and described in its own words and its patients' words; nothing ranked.

There isn't one best dentist in Berks County. There's the practice that fits your family, your schedule and your side of the county, and that's a different answer in Boyertown than in Wyomissing. So this list isn't ranked. It's grouped by what the practices do and where they are, built from what each practice says about itself on its own site and what its patients praise, and every office on it has been verified open. If none of the fifteen is near you, the county dentists page has the rest of the county's offices, town by town.
The ten lines that follow are a sampler across the three groups below, in page order, not a top ten; all fifteen follow in full.
- Penn's Commons Dental Group: the whole family from infant care on, with clear aligners for kids and adults and an in-house plan if you have no insurance.
- Reading Family Dental Center: all ages under a dentist who has practiced in Berks since 1991, with child-friendly pediatric care and implants in the same office.
- Wyomissing Dentistry: open until 7 on Mondays, gets emergency patients in fast, and can split a bill into 12 monthly payments at 0% interest.
- Malloy & Devine Signature Dental: designed for the entire family, with a Membership Club for the uninsured and an answering service after hours.
- Bluestone Dental: sees everyone "0 and up", welcomes emergency appointments, and does dentures, denture repair and implants.
- Slootsky Artistic Dentistry: one dentist does every appointment start to finish, from cosmetic work to full-arch implants, and takes emergency texts.
- Bear Valley Dental Care: reserves slots during the day for same-day care, loves working with kids, and offers aromatherapy and IV sedation for comfort.
- Oley Valley Family Dentistry: a doctor-owned practice serving the Oley Valley since 1979, welcoming new patients of all ages.
- Compassion Endodontics: a board-certified root canal specialist taking same-day and emergency appointments, with a therapy dog on staff.
- Frutchey Endodontics: two root canal specialists, one with over twenty years in endodontics, and the office sees emergencies.
Every one of the fifteen gets a card, what its own site says it does, and, where the directory holds patient reviews, a line or two from patients.
Which family practices are in Wyomissing and West Reading?
The seven practices in this group sit in Wyomissing and West Reading, and five of them have Penn Avenue addresses. Most call themselves family practices. One states outright that a child's visits start at six months or the first tooth, and several list children's dentistry; what that first visit looks like is in your child's first dentist visit in Berks County. Most also offer clear aligners (Invisalign is the brand several of them name), and what those cost is in braces and Invisalign cost in Berks County.
Penn's Commons Dental Group, a long-established family practice, in Wyomissing.
Penn's Commons is for the family that wants one office from the first baby tooth through retirement, and wants a practice that remembers them. Two dental school classmates established the practice in 1981 "with the vision of investing in meaningful patient relationships," and the site still leads with that.
The practice says it meets "the dental needs of your entire family beginning with preventive infant care," then goes on to cosmetic, restorative, orthodontic and implant work, with Invisalign for children, teens and adults. One of its dentists taught pediatric dentistry at Temple's dental school. If you don't carry insurance, it has a membership plan. A membership plan is a fee paid to the practice that covers routine care and discounts other treatment. The office is on Van Reed Road.
One patient wrote, "They have always been considerate of their patients, making sure you aren't in any discomfort during procedures." Another wrote, "The office was closed, but the answering service took my call and reached out to one of the dentist to come in for me."
Reading Family Dental Center, a family practice for all ages, in Wyomissing.
Don't let the name send you downtown. Reading Family Dental Center is at 1500 Penn Avenue in Wyomissing, and it's for a family that wants one dentist who has been in the same chair a long time. Its dentist has practiced in Berks County since 1991 and took over the practice in 1995.
The site says the team offers "personalized dental care for patients of all ages," with pediatric care in "a welcoming and child-friendly environment." It also does implants, extractions and Invisalign, so the bigger jobs stay in the same building. New and returning patients are welcome, and CareCredit is among the payment options.
One patient wrote, "They've always gotten me right in for emergencies and couldn't ask for a nicer staff." Another wrote, "Great with little kids too, just started my 2 yo and she loved the experience!"
Wyomissing Dentistry, a family practice with Monday evening hours, in Wyomissing.
Wyomissing Dentistry is for the family whose weekdays are spoken for. It opens at 7:30 three mornings a week, stays open until 7 on Monday evenings, and shares the building at 1500 Penn Avenue with Reading Family Dental Center.
The site says, "We specialize in family dentistry, catering to patients of all ages," and lists whitening, fillings, preventive care, crowns and implants. On children, its own words are, "We recommend having your child start seeing the dentist at either 6 months old or after their first tooth erupts." The practice "prioritizes getting emergency patients in with the doctor as soon as possible," and if a bill lands hard, the front desk can split it into 12 monthly payments at 0% interest. The office works out of network: its site says, "Our office will still help you submit to your dental insurance provider to receive these out of network benefits."
One patient wrote, "Most times I barely sit down before getting called back. Easy parking." Another wrote, "I love that they know my name when I walk in and that I'm with the same hygienist every visit."
Malloy & Devine Signature Dental, a family practice with a membership club, in Wyomissing.
Malloy & Devine is for the family that wants everything under one roof and a way to reach a dentist when something breaks at 9 p.m. The site says the practice is "truly designed for your entire family," one of its two dentists grew up in Wyomissing, and the office is on Commerce Drive.
The services menu runs from clear aligners and whitening to snap-in dentures, implants and sedation dentistry. For emergencies, patients call the office by day and reach the doctors through an answering service after hours. The Membership Club is for patients without insurance, and the site says it covers all preventive care and X-rays. Hours run to 7 on Monday and Tuesday.
One patient wrote, "After breaking a tooth the night before, I called for an appt and was seen the same day." Another wrote, "The office environment is bright and cheery, and impeccably clean."
Reading Dental Studio, a family-owned practice with same-day appointments, in Wyomissing.
Reading Dental Studio is for the patient who dreads the chair and wants an office built around getting them through it. It's at 1286 Penn Avenue in Wyomissing, despite the name, under the banner "Family-Owned Dentistry Focused on You." Its dentist is a Governor Mifflin High School graduate with a Temple dental degree.
The services page covers whitening, dentures, implant restorations, Invisalign and root canal treatment. The site says the practice offers "flexible scheduling and same-day appointments to fit your needs," welcomes new patients, and accepts most major dental insurances. Monday runs 10 to 7.
One patient wrote, "Comfort menu including heated eye masks, neck pillows, stress balls and more!" Another wrote, "They got me in right away when I was having some tooth pain."
Dr. Michael D. Latourelle, DMD, a family and emergency dentist, in Wyomissing.
Dr. Latourelle's office is for the family that wants a dentist it can reach when a tooth breaks, and a gentle one for the kids the rest of the year. The site's phrase is "Family Oriented Dentistry," with "family, pediatric and emergency dental treatments" and "easy children's exams in a warm and friendly office." The main office is at 951 Penn Avenue, with a second office in Mt Penn, the borough just east of Reading.
The site lists crowns, bridges and dentures and says the staff "delivers gentle root canal therapy." The emergency piece is concrete: "a designated personal phone line to contact Dr. Latourelle in the time of an unfortunate dental emergency," and a same-day appointment "for immediate care and relief." The office accepts most insurances and opens at 7:30 Tuesday through Thursday.
One patient wrote, "He makes every effort to make the experience as comfortable and painless as possible." Another wrote, "Scheduling has always been convenient."
Cheryl Miller DDS, a family and cosmetic dentist, in West Reading.
Cheryl Miller DDS is for the patient who wants the same dentist every visit and a small office that knows them. Dr. Miller has practiced in the West Reading area for over 25 years, opened this practice at 721 Penn Avenue in 1997, and is retired from the US Army Reserves.
Her site says the practice does "family and cosmetic dentistry," covering "routine dental care, dentures, crowns, bridges, root canals," and, in its own words, "pretty much everything but orthodontia." That includes laser treatment for removing decay and for gum surgery. The office does the insurance paperwork for you and takes Saturday appointments by arrangement.
One patient wrote, "I get personal attention and at this point it's more of a family atmosphere." Another wrote, "She is great with adults and children."
Which general practices are in Reading, Boyertown, Oley and Douglassville?
The five practices in this group run from the south and east edges of Reading out to Boyertown, Oley and Douglassville. Four of the five say they take children as well as adults, and the fifth describes cosmetic, implant and full-mouth work. Every one lists implants on its site, an implant being a post set in the jaw that holds a crown, and several do dentures too. What that work costs is in dental implant and denture cost in Berks County.
Bluestone Dental, a family practice for every age from zero up, in Reading.
Bluestone Dental is for the family on the south side of Reading that wants everybody, toddler to grandparent, in one appointment book. The practice has provided family dental services since 1985; its New Holland Road office is on the Kenhorst side of the city (the city's south edge), and its line on age is as plain as it gets: "We are here to provide care and answer questions to everyone 0 and up. There is no wrong age for a first visit!"
Beyond cleanings, the site says the practice "specializes in helping guide you through the process of receiving an implant all the way to full restoration," offers Invisalign, and does full, partial and immediate dentures, denture repair, veneers and crowns. It's accepting new patients, emergency appointments are welcome, and hours run to 6 on Monday and Thursday.
One patient wrote, "Who thought I would say, 'I don't dread the dentist.' Bluestone Dental has made going to the dentist easy and comfortable." Another wrote, "The office is cozy and there is lots of colorful, beautiful art everywhere."
Slootsky Artistic Dentistry, a one-dentist cosmetic and implant practice, in Reading.
Slootsky Artistic Dentistry is for the patient who wants one dentist, start to finish, and has bigger work in mind than a filling. The site says "every appointment is with Dr. Jodi Slootsky," and the practice sits on Carsonia Avenue in Pennside, on Reading's east side.
The range is wide for a solo office: "cosmetic dental care, restorative and implant dentistry, periodontics, oral surgery, endodontics, full mouth reconstruction, and emergency dentistry," in the site's words (periodontics is gum care; endodontics is root canal work), with an in-house dental lab and a specialty in All-on-4 full-arch implants, a whole upper or lower row of teeth carried on implants. New patients are welcome, and for emergencies the site asks you to text for a faster reply.
One patient wrote, "You are in her hands from start to finish, and she will take great care of you." Another wrote, "She listened to my fears and took them into consideration."
Bear Valley Dental Care, a family practice with same-day slots, in Boyertown.
Bear Valley Dental Care is for the family at the Boyertown end of the county that wants kids and nervous adults handled with the same patience. The site says it offers care "for children, teens and adults" and adds, "We love working with kids!"
Three dentists work there; one is a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry, and another has placed and restored hundreds of implants. The practice says it reserves slots through the day for emergencies and same-day appointments and "will do our best to fit you into our schedule the very same day." Comfort options include aromatherapy and IV sedation, cosmetic work includes porcelain veneers, whitening and Invisalign, and an in-house membership plan is there for patients without insurance. Hours run to 7 on Wednesdays.
One patient wrote, "First place I've ever gone where both kids were put right at ease. Not one tear." Another wrote, "They put on YouTube for my daughter during cleaning so she would have a relaxing time."
Oley Valley Family Dentistry, a doctor-owned general practice, in Oley.
Oley Valley Family Dentistry is for the family out in the valley that wants a doctor-owned practice with a long local history. The site says it "has been a private, doctor-owned general dental practice treating the Oley Valley community since 1979," and it's "always welcoming new patients, of all ages." Its dentist does general, cosmetic and implant dentistry.
The site's services run to clear aligners, pediatric dentistry, porcelain veneers, implants and teeth bleaching.
One patient wrote, "Lots of high tech equipment, and are very careful and meticulous when cleaning your teeth." Another wrote, "Appointments started on time … it took just over an hour for a new patient intake and cleaning."
Dr. Shawn R. Habakus, DMD, a general and cosmetic dentist, in Douglassville.
Dr. Habakus's office is for the Douglassville family that wants a general dentist nearby rather than a drive to Wyomissing. The site describes "a comprehensive list of general, restorative and cosmetic dental services to meet the needs of the whole family," and the office is on Ben Franklin Highway West.
The services list runs from new patient exams, fillings and crowns to dental implants, dentures and partials, root canal therapy, porcelain veneers, pediatric dentistry and dental emergencies.
Which root canal specialists does Berks County have?
The three practices in this group do one thing. An endodontist is a dentist who went on to further training in root canal treatment, and general dentists refer patients to one when a case is a difficult one. Each of the three lists its own phone number for appointments; whether your plan wants a referral first is a question for the plan. Two of the three list emergency appointments on their sites.
Compassion Endodontics, a root canal specialist, in West Lawn.
Compassion Endodontics is for the patient whose dentist just said "root canal" and who wants it done soon and gently. Its endodontist is a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics, the board certification in this specialty, and the site says that since 2017 he "has addressed the endodontic needs of patients throughout Berks, Lehigh Valley and Lancaster counties." The office is on Rocky Drive in West Lawn, just west of Wyomissing.
The site lists 3D imaging, minimally invasive root canal therapy, retreatment, dental trauma and infections, and microsurgery, and it's "accepting same-day & emergency appointments," Monday to Friday. The site adds two things. A portion of the proceeds from every root canal goes toward shelter and care for people experiencing homelessness and toward supporting veterans in crisis, and there's a therapy dog named Eddie on staff.
One patient wrote, "The procedure was quick and painless and it's now a day later and I have had no pain or discomfort." Another wrote, "I called one day, and was in the next!"
Frutchey Endodontics, a root canal specialty practice, in Reading.
Frutchey Endodontics is for the patient who wants the root canal done by someone who has done little else for twenty years. Its endodontist Brian Frutchey received his dental degree from the University of Pennsylvania as valedictorian of his class and his endodontic certificate from Tufts, and has practiced endodontics for over 20 years. A second endodontist, also Tufts-trained, practices alongside him. The office is on Kenhorst Boulevard.
The site lists five services: root canal treatment, root canal retreatment, endodontic surgery, cracked teeth and emergency treatment.
One patient wrote, "I experienced zero pain, didn't even feel the Novacaine needle." Another wrote, "He and his staff were able to see me two hours after my phone call."
Exeter Endodontics, a solo root canal practice, in Reading.
Exeter Endodontics is for the patient on the Exeter side of Reading, east of the city, who wants a specialist whose whole practice is saving the tooth. The site says it's "exclusively dedicated to all aspects of root canal treatment" and that "the goal of our office is to preserve your natural teeth." The office is on St. Lawrence Avenue.
Its endodontist was born and raised in Reading, graduated from Exeter Township High School, worked as an endodontic associate in Wyomissing and Pottstown for 16 years, and in 2020 opened this solo practice. The procedures page lists root canal treatment, retreatment, diagnosing cracks and vertical root fractures, traumatic injuries and internal bleaching. On payment, its site says, "Since we do not participate with most dental insurances, full payment is expected at the time of service."
More to look at.
Eleven more practices get a line, each linked to its BerksConnect listing with what its site or its patients say.

- Elite Dentistry, Leesport: its dentist is a Fellow of the American Academy of Oral Medicine and a clinical professor at Penn's dental school, with Monday and Wednesday evenings to 7 and Saturdays by appointment.
- Dymond Dental, Wyomissing: family-owned and accepting new patients, an out-of-network office (it doesn't contract with insurers) that files your claim for you.
- Penn Avenue Dental, West Reading: "Serving Berks County since 1953," with a dentist of over 30 years who leads with preventive care.
- Revere Dental Associates, Reading: the Revere Boulevard practice a dentist ran for forty years, now with Reinecker Dental Group's doctors, with "7 day a week emergency availability."

How we picked the best dentists in Berks County.
The reading behind this page was Berks County Living's People's Choice consumer survey and its Select Dentists peer survey, each practice's own website, and the patient reviews behind the Berks dentist listings on BerksConnect. To make the list a practice needed a Berks office verified open as of October 2026, its own description of what it does, and, where BerksConnect holds reviews, praise from its patients. The two Berks County Living surveys were read as background to the field; a practice made this page on those three tests, not on a survey. Nothing here is ranked and nobody paid to be included.
The two Berks County Living surveys are an email poll of Berks consumers and a poll of dentists about their peers. Neither survey is a judgment about your teeth, and this page isn't either: it's a list of practices and what they say they do, not dental advice, and a question about your own teeth goes to a dentist.
Questions people ask about dentists in Berks County.
Who is the best dentist in Berks County?
There isn't one answer, because it depends on what you need: a family practice near home for cleanings and the kids, or a specialist for a root canal your dentist referred you for. That's why this list is grouped rather than ranked. The two Berks County Living surveys are a consumer poll and a peer poll of dentists, and they tell you who Berks consumers and dentists think well of, not what your mouth needs.
Is there a good dentist in Sinking Spring or Kutztown?
None of the practices on this page is in Sinking Spring or Kutztown according to its own website (Kotula Dental is on Kutztown Road in Reading, which trips people up). Both towns have practices, and they're listed town by town on the county dentists page.
What does a dentist visit cost in Berks County?
That's its own post, what a dentist visit costs in Berks County without insurance, and the figures live there. Several practices above mention membership plans or payment plans on their sites, which is your cue to ask the front desk about options when you call. Ask at the same time whether the office is in your plan's network.
Which Berks dentists take Medical Assistance?
The practices and health centers that take Medical Assistance, Pennsylvania's Medicaid, or CHIP, the children's health insurance program, are gathered in dentists that take Medical Assistance in Berks County. None of the practices on this page says on its site that it takes those plans, so start with that post. If you have no coverage at all, low-cost dental care in Berks County covers the clinics with sliding fees.
What do I do about a toothache tonight?
Call a dentist. Several practices above describe a same-day or after-hours emergency line on their sites, and emergency dentist in Berks County covers how to find one after hours. What a symptom means is for a dentist to decide, not this page.
