Best HVAC Contractors in Berks County, PA
The best HVAC contractors in Berks County, grouped by area with what each is known for, verified open, from local reviews, awards and community threads.

Who is the best HVAC contractor in Berks County? It depends on where you live and what heats your house. So we grouped the companies by area, with the one thing each is known for.
If the furnace quit last night, or the air conditioner gave up in the middle of a heat wave, you want a short list and a phone number, not a research project. This is that list.
The ten below are the place to start, and every company on the list gets its own section further down. Every one is on our page of HVAC contractors across Berks County, with the rest of the county.
- INH Heating & Air Conditioning: Leesport, a hands-on owner and a tidy, punctual crew
- DeLong & Sons HVAC: Shoemakersville, family-owned, plan prices published from $10 a month
- Advanced Comfort Specialists: Reading, the owner on the phone and a sharp price
- Comfort Pro: a Lennox Premier Dealer in Reading, family-owned since 2001, and a forum-thread pick
- B&L Ott Heating & Air Conditioning: Trane's own Comfort Specialist in Reading, and a Lennox dealer too
- Service 360 Group: Wyomissing, fixed on the first visit, with an office as good as the trucks
- Rhoads Energy and Rhoads Air: the former E.G. Smith, Readers' Choice winner in 2019, oil and propane under the same roof
- Alltemp Enterprise: Mohnton's Carrier Factory Authorized Dealer, BBB accredited since 1981
- Keath HVAC: Womelsdorf, HVAC, plumbing and electrical from one company
- Trinity Comfort: Berks and Chester counties, will try to get your heat on over the phone first
The best HVAC contractor in Berks County, according to the county itself.
Has Berks County already answered this question in public? Twice, and the answers overlap. The Reading Eagle's Readers' Choice named E.G. Smith the county's best heating and air conditioning company in 2019, and E.G. Smith became Rhoads Energy's Sinking Spring office in an August 2022 rebrand.
The second answer is a thread on r/ReadingPA from October 17, 2024, where a homeowner asked for a company that would come into the city of Reading. Commenters named E.G. Smith with a note that it is now Rhoads, Comfort Pro, and a Lancaster County company.
How we picked.
Local reviews, the county's awards and thread, and the companies' own sites went into this list. Every company was confirmed operating, the list is grouped by area and not ranked, and no one paid to be on it.
INH Heating & Air Conditioning. A hands-on owner in Leesport.
244 N Centre Ave, Leesport, PA
Start up north, in Leesport: INH Heating & Air Conditioning is the company for a homeowner who wants the owner on the job. It is known for the owner's own effort: a check-up that turned into two hours of getting a small business's cooling back.
One customer called the crew "professional, conscientious, tidy, punctual, and responsive," and that is the pattern: quick scheduling, clear pricing, and a call after the job to make sure it was done to your liking. Founded in 2018, it is a dealer for GREE, Ducane, Fujitsu and Heil, and its technicians hold the federal EPA refrigerant certification.
DeLong & Sons HVAC. Family-owned in Shoemakersville.
DeLong & Sons is the family-owned Shoemakersville company for a northern Berks homeowner who wants a maintenance plan before anything breaks. It is known for publishing its plan prices, which saves you a phone call: the Essential plan is $10 a month, the Heritage oil plan is $15, and every plan brings priority scheduling and 10 percent off parts.
It is a Navien Service Specialist; Navien and New Yorker are the boiler brands it services. Emergencies get same-day scheduling, and the technician explains the thermostat before the heat check. One customer called it "a family company that we could put our trust in."
Berks Energy Heating and Cooling. Bernville installs since 2006.
Berks Energy Heating and Cooling is the Bernville company for an install. It is known for mini-splits run through a whole house; it started in 2006, sells Amana equipment, and most units can be installed for less than $50 a month with a home energy loan program.
A furnace replaced the day after Christmas, within hours of the call, is the kind of job it is known for, and the owner comes back out to answer questions after the job.
Advanced Comfort Specialists. Owner-involved and price-conscious in Reading.
Down in the city, Advanced Comfort Specialists is the Reading company for a homeowner who wants the owner on the phone and a sharp price. It is known for the callback: first thing in the morning, then a technician at the door within hours, weekends included, and a quote that comes in under what you braced for.
It runs 24/7 emergency service, prices the work up front, and publishes a price-match policy and 0% financing for 60 months on a new system. One customer on the crews: "their clean up afterwards showed no signs of them ever being there, except for the new system."
Comfort Pro. A Lennox Premier Dealer in Reading since 2001.
Comfort Pro is the Reading company to call when the job is a full system and you want the maker's own designation on the installer.
It is known for the Lennox badge, Premier Dealer, which Lennox describes as a recognized HVAC expert known for high standards in service, professionalism and customer satisfaction. Family-owned since 2001, it serves nine counties from Reading.
It was one of the four names in the October 2024 Reddit thread, from a landlord who used it for a rental. Its maintenance visits go deeper than people expect, one customer wrote: "He was very polite and very thorough in his check up." Its WatchDog plans include priority service and no overtime charges.
Berks Plumbing & HVAC Specialist. Same-day response and plain explanations.
201 East Bellevue Avenue, Reading, PA
Berks Plumbing & HVAC Specialist is the Reading company that answers the phone at odd hours and shows up, with more than 60 years in the trade. It is known for speed: same-day and next-day visits, after-hours calls included. One customer: "We desperately called you and you were here 30 minutes later."
Its technicians explain what they are doing and why before they do it, then clean up after. It services the major brands, Carrier and Trane among them, and its technicians are EPA certified, the federal license anyone who handles refrigerant has to hold.
B&L Ott Heating & Air Conditioning. Trane and Lennox under one roof in Reading.
B&L Ott is the Reading contractor for a homeowner who wants Trane's own approval on the installer. Trane lists it as a Trane Comfort Specialist, its dealer designation, and it is a Lennox dealer as well. Its technicians are NATE certified; NATE is North American Technician Excellence, the trade's independent certification exam.
It has been in business since 1989 and serves Berks, Lancaster and Chester counties. Jobs start fast: an estimator the day after the call, then equipment and installers at the door the next morning. Its maintenance plan waives travel and diagnostic fees.
Service 360 Group. First-visit fixes from Wyomissing since 2004.
West of the city, in Wyomissing, Service 360 Group is the company to call when you want it fixed on the first visit. That is what it is known for; it has been at it since 2004, holds an A+ at the BBB, and belongs to the Greater Reading Chamber Alliance.
The office gets as much praise as the trucks: scheduling that bends around your day, and technicians who walk you through the results instead of rushing out. One customer: "He explained everything in detail and made [us] very happy with the outcome." Its Total Home Care Club includes priority scheduling and a 15% member rate.
Kodiak Comfort. Veteran-owned emergency service in Wyomissing.
845 N Park Road, Wyomissing, PA
Kodiak Comfort is the veteran-owned Wyomissing shop for a homeowner on a budget who needs it fixed tonight. It is known for the turnaround: a water heater found leaking at 6 p.m. on a Thursday, and a new one running by noon the next day.
Kodiak also finds equipment that fits the budget: one customer got "an off brand mini split made by a name brand manufacturer." A mini-split is a ductless heat pump, a wall unit inside and a compressor outside. Its Care Club starts at $18 a month: no dispatch fee and two seasonal tune-ups.
Rhoads Energy and Rhoads Air. Oil, propane and HVAC from Sinking Spring.
Rhoads is the Sinking Spring office to call if your house runs on oil or propane and you want the fuel and the furnace from one company. It is known by its old name: it was E.G. Smith until August 2022, the name Reading Eagle readers picked as the county's best heating and air conditioning company in 2019.
The parent company was founded in 1917. It books same-day appointments for heat and AC trouble.
Rhoads Air sells service plans for oil, gas, heat pump and air conditioning systems, with 19-point oil, gas and air conditioning tune-ups. The fuel side has a budget plan that splits the year's bill into 12 equal payments.
Alltemp Enterprise. Mohnton's Carrier dealer for more than fifty years.
Alltemp Enterprise is the Carrier dealer in Mohnton, and it has held BBB accreditation since 1981. It is known for the Carrier President's Award, Carrier's highest dealer honor (what a dealer badge buys you is in our post on whether the HVAC brand matters), received within the past three years on top of Factory Authorized Dealer status. More than fifty years in business.
Its technicians arrive when they said they would, and emergency calls get answered on weekends and holidays, one customer wrote: "Within minutes got a call back, and the service technician arrived at our home about a half hour later." It runs 24/7 emergency service and serves Mohnton, Wyomissing and Shillington.
Keath HVAC. Heating, plumbing and electrical from Womelsdorf.
Out west in Womelsdorf, Keath HVAC is the company for a homeowner who would rather have one number for the furnace, the water heater and the panel. It is known for exactly that, HVAC, plumbing and electrical under one company, with a Friday-evening water heater emergency fixed in 45 minutes.
What sets it apart is the commissioning and the teaching. Commissioning, if you have not heard the word, is the start-up testing that proves a new system runs the way it was designed. One customer: "The installation was clean, the commissioning was thorough, and they took the time to explain everything clearly."
On Demand HVAC. A small Robesonia shop that photographs its work.
On Demand HVAC is a small Robesonia shop, and the invoice comes with pictures. It is known for the paperwork: a detailed invoice with photos of everything done to keep the furnace ready for winter, and thorough oil burner cleanings from a technician who arrives when he said he would.
Same-day service for a last-minute request is part of the pattern, along with fair pricing, clear explanations, and a technician who, one customer wrote, "even stopped to listen to my 6 year old when he had a question." Heat with oil in western Berks and want a small shop? Put it on the list.
Trinity Comfort. Phone troubleshooting for Berks and Chester counties.
Trinity Comfort is the family shop for Berks and Chester counties that will try to get your heat running over the phone before the truck leaves. It is known for that call: one customer was walked through emergency heat, the backup setting on a heat pump thermostat for when the main system is down, until the technician arrived.
Emergency service runs around the clock, and one call had a technician on site within 15 minutes. One customer wrote: "He made time for us the day we called… got us up and running."
It is also the place for a second opinion, given straight, potential issues laid out. Its maintenance contract brings two visits a year and 15% off repairs.

Who is the best HVAC contractor in Berks County?
It depends on where you are and what you heat with. Up north, INH is the one we would call first, with DeLong and Berks Energy close by. Our post on what a licensed HVAC contractor means in Pennsylvania has the ten-minute version, and our guide to vetting HVAC contractors in Berks County walks through each step.
