The Brandywine Heights Area School District is a public school district serving the northeastern quadrant of Berks County, Pennsylvania. Its administrative offices are located at 200 W. Weis St. in Topton, roughly ten miles from the City of Reading and within commuting distance of the Allentown and Bethlehem metropolitan area. The district can be reached by phone at 610-682-5100.
The district covers approximately 52.2 square miles and draws students from four municipalities: the Borough of Topton and the townships of District, Longswamp, and Rockland. That geography places Brandywine Heights in a largely rural and small borough setting, with farmland, wooded ridges, and residential neighborhoods spread across a service area that requires an organized transportation operation to connect students to school each day.
Brandywine Heights operates under the motto "Students First: Empower & Inspire to Reach New Heights," a phrase that appears throughout district communications and gives its name to the #newHEIGHTS Award recognition program. The district publishes a strategic plan, a statement of mission, vision, and core values, and a Profile of a Learner that describes the skills and attributes students are expected to develop as they progress through the system.
Unlike districts that use a traditional two or three building model, Brandywine Heights organizes its students across four schools, each serving a defined band of grade levels.
The four building configuration allows the district to group students by age and academic stage more narrowly than a conventional elementary and secondary split, which can ease transitions between grade levels and allow programming to be tailored to each group.
Curriculum and Instruction functions as a district level support area, providing curriculum guidance, instructional direction, and instructional technology while ensuring that programs meet state and federal requirements. The department works alongside building administrators and teaching staff to keep coursework consistent across the four schools and aligned with the Profile of a Learner.
Music is organized as its own district department, with programming offered across buildings as part of the comprehensive curriculum. Art education is in place at the elementary level, and health and physical education is part of the high school course catalog.
Pupil Services oversees student support functions, including school nursing and health services in each of the district's buildings. Intervention specialists work with students who need additional academic or developmental support, beginning at the elementary level.
The district athletic department administers the interscholastic sports programs available to Brandywine Heights students. Teams compete under the Bullets identity, a name that also appears in the Bullet Academy early childhood program and the district's Bullet POINTS newsletter. The athletic department handles scheduling, eligibility, coaching staff, and the logistics of hosting and traveling to competitions, and it serves as the point of contact for families with questions about participation requirements, physicals, and seasonal sign ups.
Families new to the district, or returning after time away, complete enrollment through an online student registration process. Once enrolled, parents and guardians use the Infinite Campus parent portal to view student information such as grades, attendance, and schedules. The portal serves as the primary digital record system that families interact with throughout a student's time in the district.
Several other channels keep households informed. The district publishes downloadable calendars covering the academic year, the Bullet POINTS newsletter, and a set of family resources. Stay Connected channels provide ongoing announcements, including the kind of time sensitive notices that matter in a rural district where weather and road conditions can affect the school day.
The #newHEIGHTS Award is a recognition program that highlights students and staff who reflect the district's "Empower & Inspire to Reach New Heights" motto. Recognitions of this kind are shared through district communications and give the community a regular look at classroom and staff accomplishments.
Brandywine Heights organizes its non instructional work into clearly defined departments, each with a public point of contact. These include the Superintendent's office, the Business Office, Transportation, Athletics, Human Resources, Technology, Buildings and Grounds, Music, Pupil Services, and Food Service.
Transportation is a substantial undertaking given the 52.2 square mile service area. Busing covers Topton Borough along with District, Longswamp, and Rockland townships, and the function is managed under the business office. Food Service operates the school nutrition program with district food service workers, also under the oversight of the business office. Buildings and Grounds maintains the four school facilities and surrounding properties, while the Technology department supports both administrative systems and the instructional technology used in classrooms.
The Human Resources department posts openings across the district, covering professional teaching positions, support staff roles, food service work, and substitute assignments. As one of the larger employers in its corner of Berks County, the district draws applicants from Topton and the surrounding townships as well as from the broader Reading and Lehigh Valley labor markets.
Brandywine Heights is affiliated with the BH Education Foundation, an organization connected to the district's broader educational mission. The district's consolidated service area, built from one borough and three townships, means the schools function as a shared institution for communities that might otherwise have few common civic anchors. Athletic events, music performances, and school activities draw attendance from across all four municipalities.
Residents seeking information on registration deadlines, calendar dates, department contacts, board meetings, or employment openings can contact the administrative offices in Topton directly by phone.
