Gettysburg Heritage Center is a museum on Steinwehr Avenue in Gettysburg, PA, that tells the story of the battle from the townspeople's and the soldiers' points of view, run by the nonprofit Gettysburg Nature Alliance.

The Cellar Experience recreates a basement hideaway during the fighting in town, visitors crawl through a witness tree that stood through the battle, and a 20-minute animated map film from the American Battlefield Trust lays out the three days before a drive across the field. The site suggests at least an hour, and kids 5 and under get in free.

Before you go

Last entry is one hour before closing. The building is wheelchair accessible by a ramp on the south side. Photos are welcome inside. Groups of 10 or more paid in one transaction can call 717-334-6245 for group rates.
