Lincoln Caverns & Whisper Rocks

Plan the day
Lincoln Caverns & Whisper Rocks are two crystal caverns on Route 22 in Huntingdon, PA, seen on one guided tour, with gem panning, nature trails and a rock and mineral shop at the visitors center.
A one-hour guided tour links two caves found 11 years apart, Lincoln Caverns in 1930 during the building of Route 22 and Whisper Rocks in 1941, with stalactites, flowstone and crystals in a constant 52 degrees. Kids pan for gems in the sluice mid-March to mid-November, and the trails and picnic pavilions are free with a tour. In October the Ghosts & Goblins tours add a haunted trail and hayride, with a daytime family version on Saturdays.
Before you go
Bring a light jacket for the 52-degree caves and wear rubber-soled walking shoes; the tour has several flights of steps with handrails and an uphill path between the two caves, and the site says most of the cavern is not wheelchair accessible. Trails and picnic pavilions are free with a tour.
